Carthage National Museum

The Carthage National Museum was founded in 1875. It is one of two most extensive Tunisian historical and archeological museums. The museum is located next to the Cathedral of Saint-Louis of Carthage.

The museum displays archeological items, products of excavations conducted mainly by European archeologists. The museum collection includes numerous items characterizing the Phoenician civilization as funeral objects (eg. sarcophagi), articles of daily use or Punic architecture. Second wide collenction represents Roman history of Carthage, eg. Roman arts, masaics. Last collection includes Christian and Byzantine items.

Opening Hours

The museum is open daily daily from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. During summer time from 8.00 a.m. to 7 p.m.


10 TND (joint admission to the monuments of Carthage) - ticket valid for one day.
