La Soukra (Arabic: سكرة) is a town in the northern suburbs of Tunis, which is located 10 kilometres from downtown of Tunis, between the towns of Ariana and La Marsa. It lies close to the Tunis-Carthage international airport.


Administratively, La Soukra is attached to the governorate of Ariana, otherwise belongs to North Grand Tunis area. La Soukra is one of the most populated city in Grand Tunis area,. composed to several districts: Chotrana, Sidi Salah, Sidi Fradj, Jamâa Rawdha, etc.

La Soukra is situated in the center of a vast fertile agricultural plain occupied by orange groves which there remain only a few traces. La Soukra is also well known for hosting the oldest golf course in Tunisia - Carthage Federal Golf Course link.

How to go there

La Soukra directly connected with Ariana by Bus No. 18 and 47; with Carthage by Bus No. 18; with Le Kram and La Goulette by Bus No. 47. To go to Tunis or to La Marsa, then it is neccessary to change the bus in Les Berges du Lac or Ain Zaghouan (Bus No. 20).
